Court condemns municipal government for environmental damage

The Chamber Reserved to the Environment of São Paulo’s Court decided that the city of Pinhalzinho interrupted waste deposit in improper area as well as proceeds with environmental restoration.

The prosecution filed a civil action aiming to blame the city government for the improper dump of garbage.

The Court judge Alberto Ruy Leme Cavalheiro explained that the city’s government shall provide adequate environmental management of the contaminated area, because the existing garbage continue to cause risk of contaminating the soil and any water courses
